Our Journey: A Legacy of Innovation
Early Days
CLC bio’s journey started with the launch of CLC Sequence Viewer, a free program that quickly became a favorite among researchers for its ease of use and functionality. By the end of 2005, the company introduced its first commercial product, marking the beginning of a rapidly expanding portfolio.
Despite initial challenges—like rebranding from "Geniematics" after a naming conflict and creating a surplus of unused software boxes—CLC bio persevered with a strong global mindset, achieving over 1 million downloads by 2008.
The Turning Point
In 2007, a strategic pivot toward Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis set the stage for unprecedented growth. This focus led to the development of advanced solutions for high-throughput sequencing data, solidifying CLC bio’s market position and earning accolades such as the Best of Show Award at the Bio-IT World Conference and Expo in 2009.
Game-Changing Technology and Milestones
De Novo Assembler
CLC bio’s de novo assembly algorithm is redefining benchmarks in the industry. Highlights include:
38-fold coverage of the human genome in just 7 hours on a single computer.
Significant improvements in data quality and processing efficiency.
Public beta trials are set to roll out soon, allowing researchers worldwide to test this revolutionary tool.
Bioinformatics Cube
The Bioinformatics Cube was an ambitious venture into FPGA technology. While advancements in SIMD technology shifted priorities, the Cube remains a symbol of innovation, sparking conversations at conferences and exhibitions.
